Aftermath Chechnya performance:
Celebrities that attended the festive opening of Grozny-city, a glitzy skyscraper complex in the capital of Chechnya were widely and severely criticised for the presence and accepting money from murderous and brutal dictator President Ramzan Kadyrov. Vanessa-Mae underwent her share of the negative attention but remained silent to the comments so far. Only actress Hillary Swank commented that she felt ashamed and would pass her fee to charity. The criticism and comments came from Human Right Watch, journalists, political commentators and in the media in general. The links below highlight a few reports in this respect.

Vanessa-Mae news:  Vanessa-Mae performed in Chechnya, on October 5 at the celebration for the festive opening of a glitzy new skyscraper complex, Grozny-City, in the capital, an event that coincided with the 35th birthday of the controversial Chechen president Kadyrov.
Vanessa-Mae played as invited artist at the opening of Grozny-city, a glitzy skyscraper complex in the capital of Chechnya. Other invited celebrities that attended the celebrations were two-time Oscar winning actor Hilary Swank and action movie star Jean-Claude Van Damme. Shakira, Eva Mendes and Kevin Costner did not reportedly appear at the event, despite the fact that Chechen authorities claimed that they were invited. According to unconfirmed rumours, Vanessa-Mae was said to receive USD 500,000 for her performance.

VMSPOS announcement: To avoid conflicts with copyright owners, we decided to switch off the Vanessa-Mae photo galleries and to remove images lent from other websites. We are sorry for this as we know that our photo galleries were among the most popular features of VMSPOS. However, the pleasure of showing our collection of photos of Vanessa-Mae does not out weigh the risk of receiving bills for perhaps hundreds or possible several thousands of euros.  As a consequence, the photo of the week feature is also terminated. We are confident for your understanding for our position. Our own photos made at various concerts of Vanessa-Mae that we attended will remain available at the various concert reviews and will be given a more prominence appearance at VMSPOS on short notice.

Vanessa-Mae news: Will Vanessa-Mae perform in  Chechnya when President Ramzan Kadyrov's 35th birthday is held on October 5?
Vanessa-Mae's name is on a list among other celebrities who are rumoured to attend celebrations for the 35th birthday party for Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov. Other celebrities on the list include Latin superstar and singer songwriter Shakira, US film stars Kevin Costner Hilary Swank and Eva Mendez. Kadyrov's birthday next Wednesday coincides with City Day in Grozny, where celebrations will include fireworks, a laser show, the opening of a new building complex.

Human rights organisations have urged the stars to cancel any appearances because of alleged widespread human rights abuses in Chechnya — including accusations of disappearances and torture at the hands of pro-Kadyrov forces — or whether she plans to raise them with Chechen authorities.

A spokesman of Shakira stated that the superstar was never booked, and she denied that any gig would take place in Groznyy. Non of the other invited celebrities commented on the rumours, neither confirmative nor in the negative.

Vanessa-Mae is rumoured that she would receive a payment of USD 500,000, however, sources of this rumour are nowhere provided.

source: Times Of India, Moscow Times, Contact Music and Dawn

Comments by VMSPOS: Shakira is the only invited guest to comment on the rumours. We should keep in mind that Kadyrov has a bad reputation to keep up when it comes to the truthfulness of his statements. No doubt that he would welcome the attendance of any celebrity to his birthday party because it would affirm his self-esteem as a respectable head of state. Till any proof given of the contrary, we will consider the alleged appearances of the mentioned celebrities, including Vanessa-Mae, as unconfirmed rumours.

 Vanessa-Mae chronicle
The new Vanessa-Mae chronicle is now online, see Vanessa-Mae Chronicle and is once again a story by our dear friend
CarrollTowerCX, member of the Vanessa-Mae Fans Forum. The story is about his Vanessa-Mae calendar project. The first lines are as follows: (VMF)

(Yes, my friends, there was a 2011 Vanessa-Mae Calendar. It was conceived in mid December, 2010, and was only sent to the few Fans I regularly correspond with.) Now, this year I have started early. The first few copies have arrived from the printer.
That said, this article is really about my reasons for choosing the illustrations for the 2012 calendar.

First, the photographs must be of very high quality, otherwise, when printed, they will pixilate, and therefore be unacceptable. That was a problem I encountered last year. I was able to use about 2/3rds of my downloaded images, but the others came from the extensive collection her eat VMSPOS. You see, I did not have any actual photographs in my own collection. I have rectified that situation by purchasing about 550 excellent, professional color 8x10’s since January of this year. Still I have relied on the generosity of VMSPOS in allowing me to use several of the beautiful photos shown in the various photo galleries.

Vanessa-Mae chronicle:
The new Vanessa-Mae chronicle titled VANESSA-MAE TALKS ON MSN is now available. The first lines are as follows:

The previous chronicle of the month July referred to the interview that Vanessa-Mae did on MSN in 2001 to promote her album Subject To Change that was just released at that time. During this interview, she answered a selection of questions that were submitted by fans online. Our idea was to examine how Vanessa-Mae's answers were predictive in any way. To see if she described some plans and ambitions in her answers, and examine what became of these.

Do mark, this examination is in no way meant to hold Vanessa-Mae to any promise, ot ot blame her if some ambition did not come true, or some plans were not realised at all. It is meant just for fun, nothing more and nothing less.

A review on the interview is available at VMSPOS via Vanessa-Mae talks on MSN. The screen captures that we used in this review are once more depicted below to give some impression on the setting of the interview. The series of 15 screen captures below stem form the video and show Vanessa-Mae in that studio as she was answering the questions that were submitted by the fans. The captures provide an impression of the nature and atmosphere of the video. The setting is very simple and the costs to create the video were probable very limited. It is not known to us where the video was made, but a London studio or hotel room may be a well calculated guess.

Vanessa-Mae was extremely gorgeous at the interview. She had a long brown dress with one shoulder strap to the right. Her hair that was cut end 1998, started to grow again to her shoulders. Her face was obviously made up, but not too much with just a covering crème to create an impeccable smooth complexion, lipstick in a non descriptive colour close to the foundation, black mascara and a minor dark line of shadow on her upper lid as eye make-up. Vanessa-Mae looked awesome and very distinguished. She sat comfortable on a coach answering the questions very thoughtfully and considerately.
