Photos 1 and 2
Vanessa-Mae photographed during her open air free concert performance on
November 23, 1997 for the opening of the new boutique of David Tang, Shanghai
Tang on Madison Avenue NY. Noticeable, Vanessa-Mae's lips are painted in the
same Crimson red colour as her long coat that was designed by David Tang. These
2 photos are not part of any gallery yet.
Photo 3

Photos 3 and 4
Vanessa-Mae pictured during her visit to a F1 workstation at the Melbourne
circuit on March 4, 1999 a few days ahead of the F1 race in Australia.
Vanessa-Mae's invitation to visit the first F1 race of the new season came from
her collaboration with Mika Hakinnen for the Siemens 'Get Inspired'
campaign to promote the new mobile phone during the autumn of 1998, for which
she visited a F1 race track for the first time. Probable, Vanessa-Mae's
excitement for fast cars started to develop from here. A few days earlier,
Vanessa-Mae performed at a party in Melbourne for the opening of the new F1
season. Photo 4 shows Vanessa-Mae attentively listening to the explanation of a
few mechanics. Her mother Pamela remains in the background. On photo 5,
Vanessa-Mae eagerly tries out the seating in a F1 car. Obviously, she is
impressed and very interested. Vanessa-Mae wears a nice long cotton dress with
horizontal striped pattern in alternating light and dark coloured lines. These 2
photos are not part of a gallery yet.
Photo 5
This photo was made in 2001 for the promotion of Vanessa-Mae's soon to be
released new album Subject To Change. The photo
holds Vanessa-Mae's signature. The setting portrays Vanessa-Mae wearing in a
light coloured dress of satin fibre while one person to her left is putting the
white belt around her waist right, and one other on her right is doing the
finishing touch with a powdering her face with a brush to complete the very
heavy make-up that covers Vanessa-Mae for her face wear: do notice the thick
layer foundation crème to create Vanessa-Mae's perfectly smooth complexion, the
light pink lipstick and bright blue shadow that fills up half way the space from
her lids to the brows, bordered by dark liner extending below the eyes.
Vanessa-Mae's hair is waxed and pulled very tight away form her face, finished
into a bun to the right side of her head. Obviously for this promotion shot,
Vanessa-Mae is portrayed as a glamour woman with intentionally heavily made-up
looks. The photo is part of gallery 28 with
other official promotion photos.
Photo 7 shows Vanessa-Mae during a performance in Hyde Park on July 17, 2001 during the Picnic with Pavarotti festival. This photo is not part of any gallery yet.
Photo 8 portrays Vanessa-Mae together with Sarah Ferguson during a gala on November 23, 2002. Vanessa-Mae wears a wonderful multi-coloured satin dress. Her face looks perfectly made up, fully covered with a light toned crème. This photo can be found in gallery 23.
Photo 9 is also part of gallery 23 and shows Vanessa-Mae arriving at a fashion show of Julien McDonald held on February 19, 2002 in London.
Photos 10-12 were made at the nomination launch ceremony for the 2004 Classical Brit Awards held in the London Regent Hotel on April 24 of 2004, where Vanessa-Mae acted in a short performance playing Bach Street Prelude on solo acoustic violin. Photo 10 portrays Vanessa-Mae at her arrival wearing a black suit. She looked already quite made up at that moment, but the close-ups of photos 11 and 12 mark that she added considerable to her face for her performance wearing a sophisticated purple shirt revealing her belly button because of a shine through under part of the top ,a black pair of trousers and a striking and a colourful flower wreath as descriptive necklace. The two close-ups show in detail Vanessa-Mae's heavily made up visage. These 3 nice photos are part of gallery 11 that contains a large series photos showing Vanessa-Mae at the various Brit Awards and Classical Brit Awards events that she attended over the years during her career.
Photos 13 and 14 show Vanessa-Mae at the launch re-opening of the fashion Asprey store on May 18, 2004. Vanessa-Mae had a daring outfit consisting of of a very short dress of white netting design with coloured buttons inserted to hide the private parts of her body. Vanessa-Mae was almost without additional styling wearing her long black hair hanging freely on her back and her face done with only a very minimum amount of make-up. These photos are part of gallery 33.
Photo 15 is a close-up of Vanessa-Mae is full concentration at her performance in the Royal Festival Hall on October 22 of 2004 when she presented music of her new album Choreography live to her fans for the first time. The close-up shows that Vanessa-Mae had very heavy make-up and looked absolutely adoring that evening. The photo is not part of any gallery, but an extensive concert review with our own photos can be found at Royal Festival Hall concert.
Photo 16 was made when Vanessa-Mae visited Bangkok on April 4 and 5 of 2005 to do a charity concert to support fund raising for the tsunami relief benefit. The photo is not yet part of any photo gallery.
Photos 17-19 were made when Vanessa-Mae visited the Cartier International Polo day in Windsor on June 27 of 2007. That day, Vanessa-Mae showed up wearing a very fine silk dress in Chinese style, highly closed upfront with frog buttons with blue flowery design by David Tang of the Shanghai Tang fashion boutiques. Vanessa-Mae wonderful long black hair is hanging in free style, framing her face that is obviously made up, though not too distinctive-looking. Vanessa-Mae has a small leather shoulder bag that probable contained some make-up attributes like a lipstick and powder compact to do some rework on her face from time to time. Photos 17 and 18 are close-ups showing details of the flowery silk dress and Vanessa-Mae's immaculate complexion. Photo 19 portrays Vanessa-Mae sitting on the public gallery together with friend Lionel, drinking a cup of tea with her made up visage hidden behind large sunglasses. These 3 photos are part of gallery 51.
Also part of gallery 51 are the final 2 photos 20 and 21 that were also shot at the Cartier International Polo day in Windsor, one year later on June 27 in 2008. This time, Vanessa-Mae was dressed in a long white skirts and a beige shirt with long sleeves in which she looked quite casual, also because her make-up was only very light with pink coloured lipstick. Initially gallery 51 only contained photos of this event in 2007, but it has now been extended to Vanessa-Mae's presence there in 2008 too.

Vanessa-Mae's sober make-up is in nice agreement with her informal dress style. She is covered with only a minimum of light toned foundation crème to provide a perfectly smooth complexion, little eye liner, some black mascara, little dark shadow on her upper lid, and only the bright red lipstick serves as eye catcher in Vanessa-Mae's face wear. Photo 2 shows Vanessa-Mae walking on Heathrow Airport early January of 2000 in preparation of a flight. She is casually dressed in a nice T-shirt and pants, and wears a funny cap too. She is dressed in a fine multi-coloured top with a wonderful half-long skirts, and her face looks very natural with not too much make-up. these photos are in gallery 13.
Photo 4 is a fantastic and spectacular shot of Vanessa-Mae at her performance during the launch ceremony to promote the new Rado watch model 'Ovation,' a campaign in Basel on March 7, 2000, where Vanessa-Mae was credited for her role with the first Ovation watch. Vanessa-Mae was dressed in a fantastic outfit with a flimsy pink shine-through blouse over a small top in the same colour and a pair of fine trousers. Vanessa-Mae's face was in In line with he modern cosmopolitan outfit, heavily made up with a flawless and smooth covering foundation crème, a little line of dark eye shadow and matching pink lipstick that did not deviated too much from her complexion. This photo is available in gallery 6.
Photo 5 was probable made for promotional purposes in 1996. We already have this photo in a black and white version, but this coloured version adds something extra, namely that it shows Vanessa-Mae's face with very heavy make-up in well defined and spectacular details. Definitely spectacular are the extended lashes of which the outer hairs are white, a detail that is not so clear in photo 12 because of the effect of the spotlights. Also is clear that Vanessa-Mae's eye brows are perfectly shaped and accentuated with a lot of black, and this effect is even reinforced by the bright light coloured line that was applied immediately underneath her brows; excessive red lipstick completes Vanessa-Mae's spectacular face wear. This photo is available in gallery 28.
Photo 6 was made on September 11 of 2000 at a session that took place in a London hotel room for the promotion of the collection 3cd-box 'The Classical Collection part 2,' the re-release of her early recordings - the so-called Kiddy albums. The close-up is very nice. Notice the naughty expression on Vanessa-Mae's face when she smilingly turns her left side a bit to the camera to proudly show the well defined blush on her cheeks as to indicate how perfectly her make-up was done. This fine portrait is available in gallery 38.
The settings and occasions of photos 7-10 are unknown. All were probable made around 2003 and are therefore placed in this gallery for now. Photo 8-10 are clearly and orchestrated session with Vanessa-Mae posing for the camera sitting on a coach (photo 8) and a chair holding her electric violin (photo 9). She is dressed in a beige toned long sleeved shirt of some fine light material, dark trousers and black suede shoes. She looks with a quite natural expression, not wearing too much make-up. Photo 11 shows Vanessa-Mae at quite an informal setting, almost a snap-shot made perhaps as she was caught on holidays or so. The expression on Vanessa-Mae's face suggests a bit of a surprise. She is dressed in a white sleeveless T-shirt with V-neck, a very short frayed denim mini-skirts and a pair of tights. On the other hand, Vanessa-Mae is obviously made up, so this indicates that the setting was of such nature that caused her to wear make-up - do notice the bright red lipstick that makes her mouth look very wide and brings out her wonderful strong white teeth. These photos are available in gallery 23.

The 6 photos of Vanessa-Mae shown above were recently acquired for our collection. Photo 1 is available in gallery 9 and shows Vanessa-Mae posing for the photographers after her surprise impromptu concert on Trafalgar Square to promote her new album Subject To Change in May 2001. Photo 2 was made during Vanessa-Mae's concert at the Henley-On-Thames music festival when she performed there on July 7, 2005. It is a spectacular photo on Vanessa-Mae in full concentration and action. She was dressed in blue jeans and a silk black sleeveless top wrapped around her upper body; Vanessa-Mae's face was heavily made up - notice the sharp contrast of the bright blue shadow that filled up all the space above her eyes and the black accentuation used on lashes lashes and brows, the soft red blush against her cheek bones, all against a skin covering foundation crème with a slightly pink undertone and lipstick in matching salmon pink. This wonderful photo 2 is part of gallery 27. Photo 3 was made in Moscow during her visit for the Choreography Tour in 2005 and can be seen in gallery 19. Photo 4 till 6 are part of gallery 40 and show Vanessa-Mae during two launch parties for the new models of Audi TT and Audi Sports cars in May and October of 2006. The article and interview are very interesting. Vanessa-Mae openly tells about her relationship with her demanding and ambitious mother, her youth full of discipline and harsh exercising schedules, and the impact that this all had on her. As an example, she mentions the corrective slaps she sometimes received when playing not well enough or for sometimes being out of tune. Click the thumbnails shown above to see large seized scans. A pdf file of the article is available to facilitate readability - send us a request for pdf via this link.

Photos 1-3 were made in the early stages of Vanessa-Mae's career in 1995 or early 1996 during session to promote her debut pop album 'The Violin Player.' These 3 nice pictures are part of gallery 45 that has a main theme early posing sessions. The photos 1-3, as well as all others in gallery 45, underline that Vanessa-Mae present herself as a modern cosmopolitan young woman, wearing fine fashionable clothes that indicated her own personal style and taste and her face made up in a way obviously intended to be noticed, instead of opting to preserve the natural looks of the young girl she actually was. This deliberate choice she made thus, no doubt, appeared fuel for critics that were decided to hate her no matter what. Photo 4 shows a nice close-up of Vanessa-Mae with a cap and black jacket with red scarf, an outfit in which she appeared in the 'Storm On World Tour' movie too - see captures provided at the link given! The photo is part of gallery 26. Photo 5 shows Vanessa-Mae at her entry at the premiere of the animated Disney movie Mulan in London on October 9, 1998, a movie for which she contributed with her rendition of the song Reflection. Photo 5 is available in gallery 32. Notice the exceptional decorations in Vanessa-Mae's very heavy face wear. All is more visible in the other photos of gallery 32. Photo 6 is a demure close-up portrait of Vanessa-Mae in the London Eye during her promotion of the re-release of her early albums in The Classical Collection 3cd box. The nice photo shows Vanessa-Mae in a quite natural fashion with much make-up consisting of only little foundation and brief definition of her eyes with liner and mascara and her brows accentuated and perfectly shaped with a black pencil and non descriptive lipstick. This fine portrait is part of gallery 15. Photos 7 and 8 were shot at Vanessa-Mae's arrival at the nomination ceremony of the 2004 Classical Brit Awards held in the London Regents Hotel on April 21, and are part of gallery 11. Obviously on this photo, as was reinforced by the incidence of the day light at the moment of the shooting, the covering foundation crème on Vanessa-Mae's face is very visible, as is also the purple red lipstick against her rather pale complexion. Vanessa-Mae's eyes are well defined with black liner and mascara. Obviously, Vanessa-Mae was heavily made up for this occasion were she would perform on solo violin the Bach Street Prelude after the nominations for the award evening were announced. Photo 9 was made when Vanessa-Mae visited the world premiere of a Jules Verne movie in London on November 12, 2001. This photo is not part of any gallery yet. Finally, photo 10 shows Vanessa-Mae in the a German television studio after she participated in a show program to raise money to support the struggle against cancer on November 21, 2004. Vanessa-Mae played Sabre Dance from her album Choreography that was just released at that time. Vanessa-Mae had a short fine yellow dress with silver decorations embroiled all over the garment with small light yellow straps. Her hair was in free style hanging on her back, hold backwards with hairpins from her face that had lively and vibrant expression as a result of the use of red blush on her cheeks, the light purple lipstick and olive green shadow that lined above and below the eyes as highlights in her perfectly complexioned visage. Vanessa-Mae had a spectacular performance in that superb dress and her face looking really magnificently made up. Photo 10 is not part of gallery yet.
