Vanessa-Mae visits Moscow around December 20 of 2007 for some musical event held in the Kremlin Palace. In the corridors, she meets with singer Klaus Meine and guitarist Mathias Jabs of The Scorpions - see the 3 photos below. Vanessa-Mae had met with  The Scorpions already before in 1995 in Germany for a television show. The photos show Vanessa-Mae wearing a light beige long dress with obviously red painted lips as striking mark in her smooth rather pale complexioned visage.

December 10 to December 13: Vanessa-Mae performs live in 3 concerts in Riga (Latvia), Vilnius (Lithuania) and Bratislava (Slovakia)
Vanessa-Mae did 3 concerts the past week. She arrived on December 10, 2007 in Riga, capital city of Latvia with a direct flight from Miami. Vanessa-Mae had to start her concert 1 hour behind schedule because her flight from Miami was delayed. Since, only very poor information by the concert organiser was provided to the waiting audience, many were disappointed and some may have gone home with the idea that the concert was cancelled or simple because they didn't want to wait any longer. There is a nice and interesting review of the concert available in the Vanessa-Mae Fans Forum via this direct link: Vanessa-Mae in Riga Review. The quote below comes from the review:

'Also, as I think Vanessa was quite tired after flight and fast rehearsal, but she did a good job. Hands up for that. I cannot wait for a new album and new tour, as during the concert, she promised that if Riga will invite, she will come here again, because she really like this city. As for the Latvian people, there are so many Vanessa lovers. So the fans love her here! I am glad about this fact!

Songs from Vanessa-Mae's 2004 album 'Choreography' formed the basis of the concert program that was completed with a selection of oldies from her previous repertoire like 'Red Hot,' Toccata & Fugue,' 'Storm,' 'I Am A Doun' and 'Destiny,' all more or less equivalent to other 'Choreography' tour concerts, see our reviews Review Vanessa-Mae live in concert, Hamburg 2007, Vanessa-Mae live in Dresden (2005) and Royal Festival Hall concert. Vanessa-Mae opened the concert with 'Sabre Dance' and 'Havana Slide,' after which held her openings speech to welcome the audience.

Vanessa-Mae looked awesome that evening in Riga, wearing a wonderful flimsy dress, probable silk material, in a coloured striped design; her face beautifully made up with pink glossy lipstick, black liner and mascara as eye definition completed with a small line of dark shadow on her eye lids filling up in fading red up to her well shaped brows, all in a flawless complexioned visage, finished with discreetly red blushed cheeks, and her hair pulled backwards with pins from her face hanging in free style on her back  - see the series of 9 photos below!

After the concert in Riga on the 10th, Vanessa-Mae travelled to Vilnius for her next concert on December 11. The photos below show her arriving at the airport (first picture on the left) and at her concert. Remarkable, Vanessa-Mae had the same dress as in Riga, also her make-up looked more or less the same, only her lipstick appeared in a more glossy red tone. The second photo from the right is particularly nice in blue tone. We have currently no more information on the concert in Vilnius, but we remain searching and will report as more becomes available to us. We assume the nature of the concert is identical as the show in Riga. A short video of Vanessa-Mae playing Sabre Dance is available at Alfa Lithuania, though.

Next Vanessa-Mae and her entourage went to Bratislava for a concert on December 13, 2007. She arrived on December 12 in Bratislava for a 3 days visit. comments by VMSPOS: As Vanessa-Mae told in her 'thank you all' address to the
Vanessa-Mae Fans Forum early November, she is still touring Choreography as long as her new album is awaiting. VMSPOS continues searching for more concert dates. Remarkable at the concerts in Riga and Vilnius is the fact that Vanessa-Mae had the same dress on both evenings. Possible this had something to do with the rushed flight from Miami, where she was the days before the concerts, back to Europe, since she usually has a different outfit each evening at a series of concerts. Moreover, we notice that since the Choreography tour started in October 2004, Vanessa-Mae is using considerable more make-up at her concerts than during the 'Tour For Change' concerts in 2001-2002. Now at present since 2004, she seems to revert to the more made up looks she had at the early years of her career till 2000.  Especially recently, Vanessa-Mae's  luxuriant lipstick and colourful eye shadow are noticeable, and also she is more often using discreet blush on her cheeks, where this descriptive feature was rarely used, if not at all, in her make-up till 2004 when creating serene flawlessness seem to be the major objective of her face wear. The present practice definitely creates vibrant and lively looks at concerts, and it absolutely looks great on Vanessa-Mae.

December 7, 2007, Vanessa-Mae visited Sotheby's Contemporary Asian Arts exhibition in Miami, Florida USA.
Vanessa-Mae visited an exhibition for contemporary Asian Art organised by Sotheby's in cooperation with the Mandarin Hotel Group in their facilities in Miami, Florida USA. The photos below show Vanessa-Mae posing alone leaning towards a bar during the reception and in a group together with other invited celebrities like Kenzo Takada, Edouard Ettedgui, VivienneTam, and Dennis Hopper. comments by VMSPOS: Vanessa-Mae is known to be fan of the Mandarin Hotel Group and she endorses her position by participating in the 'She Is A Fan' campaign of the Mandarin Hotel Group. She always stays at the Mandarin Hotel if a facility is available in the vicinity of the place she is visiting!

December 1, 2007 Preview on Vanessa-Mae's upcoming concerts in Riga, Latvia, and Vilnius, Lithuania on December 10 and 11.
Next week, Vanessa-Mae will do a quick visit to Riga, capital of Latvia, and Vilnius, capital of Lithuania, to do concerts there on December 10 and 11. the concerts are part of her ongoing Choreography Tour. The Choreography Tour concerts feature tracks from her well received and successful album Choreography that was released in 2004, as well as a cross selection of well known classics from her previous repertoire. Reviews of Vanessa-Mae's Choreography Tour  concerts in London (October 2004), Dresden (February 2005) and Hamburg (July 2007) are available at this website. The reviews contain program listings as well as many unique photos of Vanessa-Mae in full live action, and provide interesting reading if you have not seen Vanessa-Mae live yourself and consider going to one of her concerts. Of course, reminiscence and nostalgic feelings are served by reading the stories and seeing photos as well. Vanessa-Mae prime instrument for the Choreography concerts is her acoustic Guadagnini violin, but she is expected to use the electric Zeta for a few pieces as well.

Vanessa-Mae has visited Riga and Vilnius both twice on previously for concerts already in combined stops for the Storm On World Tour (December 10 and 12, 1998) and the Tour For Change (December 13 and 15, 2001).

Photo 1 was made in Riga on December 10, 1998, and photo 2 on December 12 in Vilnius. Photo 3 shows Vanessa-Mae at her concert in Riga on December 15, 2001. At that time, she had her hair cut.

The VMSPOS website wishes all that go to one of Vanessa-Mae concerts in Riga and Vilnius a wonderful evening and let yourself be enchanted by the fantastic sound of Vanessa-Mae through her violin.

November 12, 2007: Vanessa-Mae responses to the birthday presents sent by her best fans of the Vanessa-Mae Fans Forum, VMF, saying:

'Thank you for your thoughts and your patience. I hope to play again to you all soon!'

Vanessa-Mae responded to her fans of the VMF with her thanks for the presents sent to her. Vanessa-Mae also kindly answered the list of questions, traditionally part of the annual bday project, that VMF had for her. The most important parts from her answers are highlighted below, but see Vanessa-Mae's feedback for the integral texts of Vanessa-Mae' personally addressed answers to the list of 10 questions.

1) I have not stepped into studio yet as my management have certain aspects to sort out beforehand. There are so many creative ideas to factor in but what is sure is that there will be a new twist that I hope you will enjoy.

2) We are still touring Choreography live but a new tour will be organised for the new album and I hope to play to as many fans as possible.

3) Yes, that is a great idea! (on the suggestion to release an live tour DVD of her next tour)

4) I am now sure that I will never feel that I belong to a country, which is not necessarily a bad thing. However, China fascinates me and there is much talent in a place so big.

5) The 2001 recall was my father's request during his divorce from my mother. I have had time since to rethink the style and content but it is not finalised. The thought now is for it to follow the next album. (On her forthcoming and long awaited autobiography)

6) I was out busy dealing with stuff related to my house but I enjoyed dinner with my family. Lionel gave me a games console - grown up at 29! (On how she spent her birthday and about what present she received from Lionel)

We are all very much pleased by Vanessa-Mae's personal, open and honest answers to our questions that we had for her this year. Striking is the observation that she has professional management now to support her, see Vanessa-Mae at Merlin Elite. Of course, everyone was hoping for the release of her new album on short notice, but as Vanessa-Mae explained, she still has to start recording. Also, despite reports in the newspapers, Vanessa-Mae has not yet finalized her autobiography. The delay of the book was caused by the divorce of her mother Pamela from her step-father Graham Nicholson, and this delay made her restyle the book, and also made her add more chapters to it as well. Obviously, as a result of her multi-ethnical background and multi-cultural and cosmopolitan upbringing and life, Vanessa-Mae feels no bonding to any country specifically, although she is fascinated by China and loves to live in London in the UK where she feels at home. Isn't it so cute, Lionel gave Vanessa-Mae a games computer: probable, Lionel and Vanessa-Mae play games together: isn't that just so normal and down to earth! Definitely, Vanessa-Mae does not suffer personality deformation caused by all her successes, media attention and the responsibilities imposed on her since her early childhood.

November 1, 2007: Vanessa-Mae was the surprise guest at the annual Pearl Awards where she presented the awards in the presence of HRH The Prince Of Wales.
Vanessa-Mae appeared as special guest at the annual Pearl Awards where she presented the awards to Mr. Stanley Tse, Ms. Florence Qiu and Simon Lee, on behalf of his father Dominic Lee. The Pearl Awards is an event to recognise and celebrate Chinese achievements in multi cultural Britain. The awards ceremony took place in the presence of HRH The Prince Of Wales. The Pearl Awards were started in 2003 by China Town Magazine and the Pearl Foundation, and are rewarded in order to provide a long-overdue platform upon which to recognise and commend achievements of the Chinese Community in the UK.

Vanessa-Mae acted as surprise guest tot the winners and the audience at the award ceremonial evening that took place in the London Royal Festival Hall on November 1, 2007, to present the awards to the decorated members of the Chinese community in Britain. The photos shown above were made at the award presentations and at the VIP reception afterwards. Vanessa-Mae showed up at the awards ceremony wearing a long multi-coloured silk skirt and a black sleeveless silk top that left her belly button exposed and a fine necklace hanging on her chest; her face, framed with her wonderful black shining hair that was in free style hanging on her back, was of course meticulously made up, her skin beautifully complexioned and her eyes nicely defined with liner, little shadow and some mascara, the lush bright red lipstick served as most striking mark in her face wear. Vanessa-Mae was on black open high heeled shoes. For the VIP reception, Vanessa-Mae changed her outfit for a stylish black silk dress with open shoulders and high mandarin collar, and she carried a black shoulder purse. Her make-up and hair style apparently looked identical as during the awards ceremony. The necklace, if she still had it, was not visible under the mandarin collar.

The photos obviously show that Vanessa-Mae is very at ease during these type of events. Clearly, she guides the recipients with confidence through he ceremony. Noticeable, Vanessa-Mae acts relaxed and full self-confident in her role, and especially at the conversations with HRH The Prince Of Wales, she serves well in actively contributing to the conversations. Also nice to notice is the fact that Vanessa-Mae so effectively manages to create a wonderful physical presentation when she is styled in nice clothes and,  especially, with make-up that always brings the  finely chiselled features of her face so beautifully to expression.

September 8, 2007, Vanessa-Mae completed her hugely successful 3 concert dates tour through India on August 31, 2007
In the final week of August, Vanessa-Mae did a 3 stop short tour of concerts through India with stops in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. The tour was organised by
Seagram's 100 Pipers, an organisation that invited Vanessa-Mae to perform solo concerts. Famous Indian sitar player Nishat Kahn opened all the evenings with a performance of characteristic Indian music, followed by Vanessa-Mae for her concert with repertoire based on her latest album Choreography varied with well known oldies. Towards the end of Vanessa-Mae's performance, Nishat Kahn joined her on stage to accompany her in a few songs like the Havana Slide. All three shows were ended when Vanessa-Mae and Nishat Kahn engaged in a spectacular jugalbandi that brought the audiences in full packed venues to complete ecstasy. Vanessa-Mae's all time first visit to India and her joined performance with one of the India's leading musicians caused newspapers and televised media to spend considerable attention to the events. Unfortunately, only little free tickets for fans were available because to many dignitaries and other celebrities were invited to attend the concerts. This practice, however, is said to be a common phenomenon at cultural events in India. The photos below originate from online editions of Indian newspapers.

Photo 1 shows Vanessa-Mae a day before the first concert in Mumbai on August 26 at a press meeting. On the photo, Vanessa-Mae wears a white suit and holds her electric violin in front of her and her lips are noticeable painted with excessive red. Photo 2 was made during the concert in Mumbai where Vanessa-Mae was dressed in an elegant off white to cream coloured long dress with open V-neck. Photos 3 to 6 show Vanessa-Mae, obviously with heavy face wear in which the purple lipstick served as striking content of her make-up, after the show posing alone and with Nishat Kahn. Photo 7 stems from the concert in Delhi where Vanessa-Mae was dressed in a bright bleu dress. After the show, she again had an encounter with the press after she had changed into an Indian type skirt with a fine black silk top. Again, Vanessa-Mae's face was considerable made up - see photo 8. Photos 9-12 were shot at5 the concert in Bangalore on August 31 and here Vanessa-Mae was dressed in a fine long red dress.

comments by VMSPOS: we were able to download all 4 mentioned videos successfully. Please address us an email if any questions about the videos remain.

Vanessa-Mae was probable unaware of the fact that most tickets for her concerts were given to dignitaries and other celebrities, with the result that only limited numbers of real fans had the opportunity to attend her concerts. Obviously, this practice is saddening for all true and loyal fans.

source: Audi Channel

Brief description of the video by VMSPOS
The story line of the video starts with an introduction of a yet unknown guest by Rhodri Owen driving in a luxurious Audi car to his appointment. From his in introduction where uses words like 'one of the best musicians in the business who turned the world of classical music upside down with her innovative approach of a traditional discipline.' and then 'did I mention that she happens to be beautiful, internationally renowned and commercially one of the best selling artists of our times in any music genre, she is of course Vanessa-Mae.' Then the camera shows Vanessa-Mae sitting on a bench in a park waiting, first in out of focus from a distance then in focus bringing to a close-up of Vanessa-Mae's lips and eyes as to indicate and show that she wears make-up of a flawless mat complexion, pink rose lipstick, minor dark eye definition and white shoes with spike heels and pointed nose, more or less in tradition with her own video clips where the importance of these styling attributes to Vanessa-Mae is also brought to the attention of the viewer. On this particular day for this occasion, Vanessa-Mae wears blue jeans and a short wonderful light brown suede jacket with pockets up front left and right, a waste band and knot buttons. After exchange of greeting words, Vanessa-Mae and Rhodri Owen take a walk through the park to the car and talk about the cold weather, about the start of Vanessa-Mae's practice of the violin and her career and the conversation continues about cars during their drive through London. Then the question of what Vanessa-Mae is driving for car comes to the table. Vanessa-Mae answers that she has an Audi Avant. Vanessa-Mae does not specify but the interview with her that was published in Audi Magazine of December 2004 was said that she owns an S4 Quattro Avant, as shown on the photo below.

Vanessa-Mae explains that this car fulfils her desire for beauty, speed and power, in addition to her needs for space to harbour her dog Gaspard on her travels to the slopes of Europe for skiing. But then she continues that 'if you are a responsible driver and can control yourself if you have a powerful car then it is OK.' Rhodri Owen then asks what is Vanessa-Mae's biggest extravagance. She replies without any hesitation: 'oh, my dog.' Then explaining: 'he eats fresh meat, rice and vegetables,' and walking him outside more then 2 hours a day. Then Rhodri and Vanessa-Mae stop at the Dorchester Hotel to have a good lunch. Here, Vanessa-Mae, after taking off her suede jacket, shows a fine red sleeveless top. Sitting at the table, Vanessa-Mae tells Rhodri Owen about her acoustic violin, feeling the need to take more and longer breaks in between recording a new album and tours as a have to keep enough energy and motivation to keep up with the demands of the hectic life of a musician and to produce music that meets her wishes for quality and to produce an album that satisfies her. the program ends with a joke when Rhodri Owen brings up the question who will take up the bill. Vanessa-Mae says: 'well Chinese custom, modern girl, I think it will be me.' But then Rhodri rejects: 'as kind as you are, I could not possible let you do that, gentleman that I am.' Vanessa-Mae does not insists otherwise and they start to enjoy the lunch.

August 4, 2007, Autobiography of Vanessa-Mae to be released in 2008, according to the Telegraph
According to a report in the Telegraph, Vanessa-Mae told their reporter at the Ladies Day at Glorious Goodwood Race Meeting on July 27 that she finally finished her autobiography and that the book was now scheduled for release in 2008. According to the Telegraph, Vanessa-Mae stated the following  to the reporter:

''My autobiography is finally coming out next year. It was sent to the publishers five years ago but because of my parents' divorce I had to rewrite parts of it and then add on an extra chapter.'' And she continues with relish: "Now, it's finished. I've written it from a cultural angle, my first three years growing up in Singapore, playing the violin every day from the age of 12. I'm afraid my life isn't tabloid- or paparazzi-friendly though - I've been with my boyfriend, Leo, for eight years." (The Telegraph falsely refers with Leo to Vanessa-Mae's friend Lionel Catalan with whom she is together now since the summer of 1999  - VMSPOS!)

Comments by VMSPOS:

It is commonly known among fans of Vanessa-Mae that she was working on the book since 2000 already. We are very much looking forward to the book in which Vanessa-Mae will tell us the story of her life from her personal point of view. It will be nice to learn her feelings towards her youth full of dedication towards practising the violin and music in general, her upbringing in a protective childhood, becoming a world wide celebrity and famous violinist overnight after the release of her debut pop album The Violin Player, and how she managed to deal with success and criticism. Moreover, we are anxiously to read her perspective on the split with her mother and the current state of their relationship: a mother and a daughter should be on speaking terms always, or manage to overcome differences and reconcile over personal issues. Vanessa-Mae already said that her book will not be tabloid- and paparazzi-friendly as she is still together with her firsts real boyfriend and relishing gossips over love affairs and other controversies over Vanessa-Mae do not exist, or perhaps some would consider the so-called wet T-shirt photo to represent as such, this all more or less out of poverty since the absence of real topics of disgrace. The fact that Vanessa-Mae announces that she tried to write her autobiography from a cultural angle sounds very promising and interesting. After all, Vanessa-Mae is a child born out of different cultures, who has lived through different cultures on different continents, and she is someone who tries to bridge the gap between cultures, ages, races and people with her blend of music originating from all possible styles of music.

As high profile celebrity, Vanessa-Mae gets invited to events like the Cartier Polo day. In past, she often went alone to these occasions but the past 2 -3 years, we see her friend Lionel Catalan increasingly accompanying her, if not already always at present times. Looking at the photos above that show Vanessa-Mae together with Lionel, we notice the tenderness with which Lionel holds his arm around Vanessa-Mae, as well as the glances full of expression of understanding and passion they both exchange when looking at each other. Vanessa-Mae and Lionel seem to be a real happy couple together. At all these events, Vanessa-Mae is always well styled in agreement with the intend of the occasion, nicely dressed and perfectly made up, yet most of the time looking quite natural, according to her own preferences and wishes that allow her to be relaxed and act with self-confidence; the photos above show what is meant adequately.

June 29 till July 5, 1007 Vanessa-Mae completes a successful summer tour in Germany and Bulgaria
The past week Vanessa-Mae toured in Germany for 5 concerts and Bulgaria for 1 concert in the capital Sofia. The kick-off show took place in Stuttgart at the Freilichtbühne Killesberg as an open air concert. The Stuttgarter Zeitung reports that a beautiful and talented Vanessa-Mae dressed in jeans and a pink top played for a crowd of 2000 visitors a optical mix of styles with pop and classics. Unfortunately, rain spoilt the final part of the concert, urging some to leave early.

The next day, Vanessa-Mae performed in Fulda, again an open air concert at the Schlosshof and fortunately weather gods were merciful that evening. The Fuldaer Zeitung reports on a  show of charm and routine that, nevertheless was marred by technical problems with the amplification of Vanessa-Mae's acoustic violin. The audience, however, was enthusiastic and impressed. For the show, Vanessa-Mae was dressed in black jeans and a black sleeveless T-shirt, her black hair was in almost free style, and her face looked very natural with only pink lipstick and shadow in a pale complexion. The photos below are part of a slide show that is available at eh website of the  Fuldaer Zeitung. Vanessa-Mae looked absolutely superb that evening, being rather casually dressed and the degree of her make-up accordingly to that.

We reported extensively on Vanessa-Mae's concert in Hamburg in the Laeiszhalle and showed our photos at this space. A few photos are pictured here again below. For the details of the show and more fantastic photos see our Review Vanessa-Mae live in concert, Hamburg 2007.

Contradicting the thankful reactions of enthusiasm of a satisfied audience was the report of a journalist wrote in the Hamburger Abendblatt. According to the journalist, the red in Vanessa-Mae's dress was the only colour in a flat and uninspired concert that she delivered in an, as the reporter states, only moderately filled venue. Of course everyone is entitled to his or hers opinion but the reference to a more or less half empty hall comes over as strange since the concert was sold out completely, as we witnessed ourselves by being in the audience.

We were not able to find any report, nor photos, of Vanessa-Mae's concert in Munich that took place in Philharmonie im Gasteig. We too have no details on Vanessa-Mae's concert in Bochum in the Ruhr Congress Centrum, but we previously reported that Vanessa-Mae would personally sign an electric Harley Benton HBV 400 WH viollin that was available for an action organised by Radio Bochum and the School of Music in order to raise money for disabled children - scroll down to June 22. The winning bid of Euro 510 was placed by Mr Nielandt. The photo below shows Vanessa-Mae giving the violin to the winner and is available via the Bochumer Szene. As seen on the photo that was taken immediately after the concert, Vanessa-Mae was dressed that evening in a fine bright red dress and having her lipstick in matching red accordingly.

The final stop of Vanessa-Mae's summer was in Sofia for a concert at the Winter Sport Palace. We found various sites mentioning Vanessa-Mae's concert but the Bulgarian and Hungarian languages prevent and hamper reading and understanding. The photos below, however are available at Gallery Actualno.

We are still looking for more more reports and photos of Vanessa-Mae's summer tour in Germany and Bulgaria. We would appreciate to receive feedback from visitors to any of these concerts, especially  the shows in Munich, Fulda and Sofia. Please contact us via email through the contact link.

May 11, 2007, The Concord Monitor names Vanessa-Mae, Joshua Bell and Yo-Yo Ma as musicians who reach out to larger audiences by simple being themselves.
In the Concord Monitor, Elizabeth Walters wrote an article under the title 'Classical discord:As more classical music enters the mainstream, the 'pure' versus 'pop' debate heats up' that deals with the controversy between purists and modernists and the tough times classical music industries are going through. The article names Vanessa-Mae, Joshua Bell and Yo-Yo Ma as prominent examples of musicians who reach larger audiences by being themselves and in doing so step over the borderlines of pure classical music.

'Vanessa-Mae, like Bell a child prodigy, inspired innumerable teenage girls when, in the '90s, she donned combat boots and flashy gowns for her performances; now 28, she's been named one of People magazine's most beautiful people.

The artists are also reaching larger audiences simply by being themselves and exploring their wider musical interests - and therefore expanding the definition of classical. Vanessa-Mae often plays an electric violin and works with pop-classical fusion. The cellist Yo-Yo Ma recorded an album with the a cappella jazz singer Bobby McFerrin.'
