VANESSA-MAE CHRONICLE 2010, # 7

Vanessa-Mae and the International Cartier Polo days in Windsor in 2007 and 2008

Vanessa-Mae is known to be quite reserved when it comes to attending so-called celebrity parties and gatherings. We have seen her at various events that were organised and sponsored by Audi cars, primarily in her role as VIP user of this brand of automobiles - Vanessa-Mae and Lionel own several Audi cars themselves! An event she has also frequently visited the past years is the preview for VIP's of the summer exhibition of the Royal Academy of Arts in London - we will write about these events in the future as we have many nice photos of her attending these. Other events that she has visited are ballet evenings, movie premieres, launch parties of fashion and jewelleries stores, and fashion shows.

Before 2002, Vanessa-Mae was used to visit events like mentioned above alone, or before 2000 together with her mother Pamela. However, since about 2002, Lionel accompanies Vanessa-Mae more often at events that she visits more or less as the famous and celebrated violinist. We think that Vanessa-Mae considers going to parties like this as part of her job, as part of her life as a celebrity. Which doesn't imply, necessarily, that she goes there reluctantly, but that, probable, she picks out those events that have her interests, in order to cleverly combine work and duties with pleasure.

The renowned French watchmaker and jewellery designer Cartier started to sponsor and organise an international open polo day in 1984 at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor, UK. Since then, the event developed into one of the highlights for British upper social classes. Over the years, many celebrities from all over the world gave acte the présence, varying from Jacqueline Bisset (1991), Richard Gere (1991), Prince William (1999) and Angelina Jolie (2000) to mention a few from the overview given by Vogue.

In 20078 and 2008, Vanessa-Mae and Lionel visited the open International Cartier Polo days in Windsor. The interests of Vanessa-Mae in Cartier is obvious to understand considering her VIP and celebrity status as successful violinist - at the many occasions related to her  career when she appears officially in public, Vanessa-Mae developed an style of her own when it comes to clothing, hair coif, make-up and jewelleries. All in all, the International Cartier Polo days are an event that suits Vanessa-Mae's selection criteria for attending, probable very well.

The photos below show Vanessa-Mae and Lionel when they visited the International Cartier Polo Days in 2007 on July 29 for the first time. Vanessa-Mae showed up conservatively in a high-necked silk flowery dress, a creation by Shanghai Tang, of knee length in colours varying from white, to blue and purple, her long black shining hair in free style, her face was perfectly made up to go well with the decorative nature of the silk dress. Finally, Vanessa-Mae had a simple bracelet around her right arm, and rings on both her middle fingers. Lionel was in a nice men's suit with white shirt and a fine tie in the colours of Vanessa-Mae's dress. The photos 11 to 13 are particular cute: Lionel hugs Vanessa-Mae, wearing large sunglasses to protect her eyes and surrounding make-up coverage against effects of the sunlight, from behind.

Next year in 2008, Vanessa-Mae and Lionel visited the International Cartier Polo Days again on July 27. This time, both Vanessa-Mae and Lionel were more informal, though very neat - see the photos below. Vanessa-Mae was in a long white cotton skirt and an off-white long sleeved shirt with wide collar made from some floating light material. She had considerable less make-up on that previous years event. Lionel was in casual pair of trousers, a jacket over a squared shirt.

All in all, looking at the photos, it seems that Vanessa-Mae and Lionel both enjoyed visiting the International Cartier Polo Days. At least, their visit provided us as her fans with some nice photos that show that Vanessa-Mae and Lionel are a happy couple together. Photos showing Vanessa-Mae together with Lionel indicate how close they are, and that is good to see. After all, devoted fans want Vanessa-Mae to be happy!
