I added scans of an article in the Independent Magazine of October 16th last year to the 'Scans of articles in newspapers and magazines'
In this article, Vanessa-Mae talks about how she looks at herself. Here are a view highlight of what she has to tell:
Comments on her body:
- 'I have a straight figure. I am not an hourglass at all.'
- I am not sure where my waist starts and my hips finish.
- 'My boyfriend always says he is not sure if he is with an
animal, a child or a woman.
- I am petite so people think I am fragile.
comments on her hair:
- People always ask if I dye my hair black because it is so
dark, but no it really is this colour.
- Five years ago I had very short hair and I dyed it blue, but
it was a bad experiment.
- My hair is so long and thick that washing is an achievement
in itself.
- I am lazy so I have my hair washed.
- I think I'll have it until I am 30. Long hair after 30 is a
bit spooky
Comments on her skin and why
she never wears make-up at home:
- I have a dry skin and have to moisturise a lot
- I never wear make-up at home. It is nice for your skin to
breathe and if you get used to seeing yourself with definition
all the time you never know what you look like naturally.
Comments on clothes and
fashion:
- I don't like wearing lots of clothes.
- Clothes are there to make the wearer look and feel as good
as possible. Therefore, clothes have to be cut and fit beautifully.
Comments on her physical
violin play:
- My teachers told me to contort my face slightly to make the
music look more difficult, but I don't find this look
attractive and relaxing.
- You should make it look as serene as possible.

sentence the stalker. The man was ordered to stay away from London and from
Vanessa-Mae anywhere in the UK, see also the
'Chronology' section of this website. The article has a wonderful photo
of Vanessa-Mae posing in London. She is dressed in a nice short jacket and a
beautiful white T-shirt. Her face is made up nicely in a rather casual style.
See below for this wonderful photo:
'Mail On Sunday, March 2nd 2003'

the magazine. There are other very nice photos of Vanessa-Mae in a funny dress
designed with music sheets as prints, see below for the cover photo:

'My collection of promotion
material'.
On this photo, Vanessa-Mae wears a spectacular deep red Chinese style dress a silk fibres. She used this dress a lot in the 'storm' and 'China Girl' period in 1997 and 1998. As habitually in that period, Vanessa-Mae's visage is made up with heavy face-wear, specifically her lips and around her eyes.

Today, I received an advanced listening cd of Vanessa-Mae's new album
'Choreography.' Advance listening cds are prepared and distributed by record
companies among radio stations, music magazines and newspapers for promotional
use only. This advance listening edition has a two sided booklet and track
listing. I added both sides of the booklet to the
My collection: specialties section, but
they are both shown below too (clich the thumbnails to see the full pictures:
The track listing for the new album is follows:
1 Sabre Dance - A. Katchkaturian, arr.
Tolga Kashif
2 Roxanne's Veil - Vangelis
3 Bolero for violin & orchestra - Walter Treib
4 Tango De Los Exilados - Walter Treib
5 The Havana Slide - Jon Cohen
6 Emerald Tiger - Bill Whelan
7 Tribal Gathering - Walter Treib & Vanessa-Mae
8 Raga's Dance - A.R. Rahman
9 Moroccan Roll - Kad Achouri & Jon Cohen
10 Handel's Minuet - arr. Vanessa-Mae
The new album sounds great, but is certainly not easy listening. With the music, Vanessa-Mae investigates dance themes from all over the world. Because this 'Choreography' is a complicated musical journey into different and varied cultures around the globe. I will write and submit a comprehensive review of the album soon after the album has been released officially. Dennis Lodewijks placed an announcement on his Elsewhere: Independent Vangelis website. Follow the link http://elsew.com/data/latest.htm to read his statement on the collaboration between Vanessa-Mae and Vangelis

I also added to the Chronology the news that the man who harassed and stalked Vanessa-Mae for many years will be sentenced before London Court on August 24th 2004.
